Before refrigeration, Thyme was used in culinary dishes to prevent food-borne illnesses and to treat poisoning*. In ancient Egypt it was used as an embalming agent to preserve the bodies of deceased pharaohs.

Recipes

Garlic Thyme Butter

  • Ingredients:

    • 1 head of garlic

    • 1 cup of butter, room temperature

    • 1 tbsp. minced fresh thyme

    • Pinch of sea salt


  • Instructions:

    • Cover head of garlic in olive oil, wrap in aluminum foil and roast in the oven for 30 minutes

    • In a bowl, mix the butter, cloves of garlic, salt, and fresh thyme

    • Refrigerate for up to one week or freeze for six months

    • Use on bread, fish, chicken, or any recipe
